The painting portrays a young woman walking through the sea, the water reaching up to her knees. Her wet white shirt clings to her body, almost blending into the pale seascape, while her black damp hair, falls loosely around her face, which remains hidden from view. The water around her seems almost to merge with the soft tones of the sky, creating an ethereal, dreamlike atmosphere.
She moves slowly, as if lost in thought. She is alone. Her solitude feels intentional, as if she has sought this stillness. She does not resist the cold water or the wet fabric — she embraces them, letting them become part of her silence.
