Original artwork description:

The Prime Mover is a concept is philosophy, which suggests that all motion must be traced back to an original 'cause' or prime mover. It is thought to have originated with Aristotle as an argument to justify the necessary existence of a metaphysical being. This dramatic oil painting is more than a deconstructed idyll. Sky, earth, cloud, hillsides tumble over one another as if at the moment of creation or in some cosmic theatre of play. What we are seeing here, is an interplay of the elements before order is imposed by such a divine being. There is great beauty in the relational aspects of this unbounded rural scene, an energy which even points to awe, such as when waves crash or the earth's colours appear velvety and rich.
