Original artwork description
Hello,
I commit to painting a portrait every now and them - occasionally a self-portrait. This subject is an artistic impression of Henry of Monmouth (son to Henry IV) after battle of Shrewsbury and the removal of the arrow in his face. When he became King Henry V in 1413, he only ever had his portrait done in side profile to hide the wound. Amazingly, he was only 17 at Shrewsbury and had already led an army into battle a few years before.
The work is rendered on canvas board - I will be framing it in due course.
Enjoy xx
