Original artwork description:

This original, vibrant abstract painting captures the expansive and dramatic vista looking across the Firth of Forth from Portobello Beach towards the distant hills of Fife in Scotland. It's a contemporary piece that uses bold colour and rich texture to convey the raw, changing energy of the Scottish coastline.

The composition is divided into compelling horizontal bands, each representing a key element of this iconic view from a brooding yet luminous sky, rendered in thick, textured strokes of deep turquoise and muted teal, suggesting the vast and ever-shifting light over the water - to a dense bands of indigo and charcoal forms the rugged, distant Fife coastline, sitting low on the horizon and creating a powerful focal point.

Lower are broad, textured swathes of creamy white and rich coloured sand with hints of blue and red bleeding through to suggest tidal movement and debris.

Created with a mix of palette knife gestures and fine textural layering, the painting holds both stillness and motion. Its atmosphere is meditative, yet alive with the quiet drama of colour meeting light.
