Introducing •Polycystic•

She is the sister of ‘Follicular’ from the series of paintings I am currently developing. This series focuses on the capacity of the female body as well as the variety of ways it breaks the rules which disrupt the regular menstrual cycle.

“Polycystic” depicts the follicular stage of the menstrual cycle where several follicles in the ovary begin to mature. In polycystic ovary syndrome, abnormal hormone levels prevent follicles from growing and maturing to release egg cells. Instead, these immature follicles accumulate in the ovaries.
