Pole Woman (2025)Gouache painting by Darren Jekel

40.64 x 50.8 x 2.54cm (framed)

£655.1

Frequently I appreciate making gouache studies of a subject that I may paint larger in oil. Gouache is a wonderful indoor friendly substitute. This painting is strange to me as are our times. I'm not sure what it means to me exactly. It could be dark or redemptive. I puposefully gave this work some unfinished aspects and was not at all fussy about the outcome. The white embellishments give the painting a sparkling effect that interested me. The image reminds me of a Tarot card.

Materials used:

gouache and charcoal on matboard
