A painting from a summer plein air by the sea. A real experiment in which Nature itself is the co-author. The fistory of ancient Lithuanian folklore intertwines with the present. The creative process recalls ancient ethnic customs of life
A lot of space was left for chance and freedom in the creative process. The painted linen canvases soaked in the rain, were washed in the sea, stretched in the sand, dried in the wind, rested in the pine forest and in the morning mist of the sea... It was interesting to experiment and see what effect nature would have on the paints and the canvases themselves. The result is six warm and summer-filled paintings, the names of which speak of the story in them - “Kuršiai”, “Perkėla”, “Ambers of Heaven in August”, “Dūzgės”, “Klaipėda” and “Marios”. It is also interesting that each of us finds our own connections and symbols in these paintings that remind us of our seaside and the moods we had while there.
