There is something magical about the energy of a restless sea. I love that. I almost want to be in the middle of it.
This painting was inspired by the atmosphere on a cloudy day, with seagulls dancing about. This was meant to be a study for a commission for a collector of mine from Los Angeles. I created three studies of this. Two landscape diptychs (two painting making a piece) and this square seascape that I nearly destroyed after painting. A lot of artists end up destroying their work after creating it if it isn't to their satisfaction. Creation and destruction go hand in hand somehow.
