The Nutcracker
The story of my painting tells of the Soldier and the Dancer dancing inside their little box, their entire world. he holds her with rigid elegance but secret adoration, while she, in an antique pink tutu, gracefully twirls across the checkered floor towards the starry ceiling. There is no music except the muffled beating of their porcelain hearts. They were toys, destined for immobile poses, but in that suspended moment, under their private stars, they were free.
