Peony Paradise (2024) Original Acrylic Painting by Kathleen Rietz

For this gestural painting, I used my favorite pink to depict peonies against a calm, muted periwinkle background using curving brushstrokes that blend varying shades of pink, aqua, orange and white petals to give a sense of light and movement. The blue background highlights the flowers' colors and my loose brushstrokes create a painterly feel. The whole painting balances color and shape, inviting viewers to enjoy the gentle beauty of the somewhat abstracted peonies. Peonies have long been a favorite flower of mine, and I hope you enjoy them as well, as you welcome my painting on the walls of your living space.

The main colors in this painting are cool and warm pinks, purple, yellow, white, green, navy and turquoise. The muted periwinkle background color was also used to paint the sides of the canvas. Arrives ready to display.
