A painter is a storyteller but also a poet of images, and so Milena Nicosia clings with all her strength to both memory and desire. Those now nonexistent trees are now leaves floating in her mind in scented, fruity, and sweet atmospheres, laced with the sweetness of love for every blade of grass that rebels against man and challenges him by growing tall in this fertile land. In her works, nature explodes and expands, carried by the wind; wild herbs, Mediterranean shrubs, petals and seeds fly far away, like the observer's sensations and inspirations. Every wild herb in the area has been observed and admired by the artist, dedicating visual poems to it in large-scale works often sold to foreign collectors. Light pervades the artist's entire poetics, a dazzling light that sometimes transforms the real colors of things into shadows, enhancing their structures, a light that gives lightness and suspends everything in the void, a light that moves within the work and makes the most banal color and subject sublime.
