Original artwork description
Peace of Mind 49 was created through an intuitive process of layering soft, translucent colour and allowing each mark to influence the next. The composition developed gradually, with vertical forms in muted blue, turquoise, earthy brown, terracotta and grey creating a quiet rhythm across the canvas. Rather than depicting a specific place, I wanted to capture an atmosphere—a fleeting moment between thought and stillness.
The inspiration came from the idea that peace can exist even when life remains complex. The contrasting colours suggest different emotions and experiences, while the softened edges and subtle overlaps bring them together into a harmonious whole.
What makes this painting special to me is its sense of quiet depth. It does not reveal everything immediately; the longer you look, the more subtle colours, layers and relationships begin to appear. As with much of my work, the act of painting became a form of meditation, and Peace of Mind 49 is my invitation to the viewer to pause, breathe and find their own moment of calm within it.
