Original artwork description
“Peace of Mind 36” was created as an exploration of stillness, depth and the quiet movement of thoughts. I began intuitively, without a predetermined subject, allowing layers of acrylic paint to develop through soft vertical gestures, blending and subtle scraping. The painting gradually emerged from the interaction between darker and lighter layers, with each mark responding to what was already on the canvas.
The predominantly blue palette creates a cool, immersive atmosphere. Shades of deep blue, turquoise, grey and pale blue move across the surface, while areas of white and darker pigment create the impression of light appearing through mist or deep water. Delicate underlying lines remain visible in places, suggesting thoughts and memories that continue to exist beneath the calm surface.
This work is special to me because it reflects the meditative side of my artistic practice. Painting is my meditation — a way of disconnecting from the outside world and allowing instinct, movement and colour to take over. I do not try to control every stage of the process; I allow the painting to reveal itself gradually.
“Peace of Mind 36” invites the viewer to slow down and become immersed in its quiet blue atmosphere. I hope it creates a feeling of spaciousness, reflection and inner calm.
