“Peace of Mind 24” emerged from a desire to capture the quiet, restorative feeling of being surrounded by calm. I worked intuitively, allowing vertical movements of acrylic paint to build the composition layer by layer, without a fixed image or subject in mind.
The painting is dominated by shades of blue, turquoise and soft grey, with subtle changes in transparency and texture creating the impression of light filtering through mist, water or an open atmosphere. The elongated forms give the work a gentle sense of movement, while the cooler palette creates an overall feeling of serenity and depth.
What makes this painting special to me is the connection between its appearance and the way it was created. My painting practice is deeply meditative. I often begin without knowing exactly where the work will lead, allowing instinct, movement and colour to guide me. In “Peace of Mind 24”, that process resulted in a quieter, more contemplative work.
I hope it offers the viewer a moment of stillness — a place to slow down, breathe and find a little peace within themselves.
