Patient, 40 x 40 cm, paper, playing cards and acrylic on canvas, 2025
The title of the painting, "Patient," refers to the two definitions of the word: "Patient" is both the one who is sick, and the one who waits, who is patient. The UNO cards are a metaphor for treatment and healing. One step forward, three steps back, and you're back. On her back are the pages of an old psychology book that define "sick," while on her face and knee are Pay Day cards with diagnoses or medical insurance.
This painting deals in particular with mental illnesses, such as anxiety or depression, which take time to be treated and cured, and whose path is punctuated by wanderings and relapses.
The canvas is varnished and equipped with a hanging system.
