PASTORAL IN BLUE MINOR
In Pastoral in Blue Minor, I wasn’t aiming to document a landscape—I was listening for something quieter, something beneath the surface. I wanted to translate an emotion, like a minor key in music: soft, unresolved, quietly resonant.
The composition emerged through movement, through allowing the frame to breathe and shift. I embraced blur, not as a flaw, but as a way to let the image drift—like memory, or mist rolling over distant hills.
The color palette came intuitively: deep teals, muted aquas, touches of pale light breaking through. It felt natural to stay within this restrained, moody range—to let color carry the feeling, more than the form.
This piece belongs to the Tuscan Sonatas—a body of work where place becomes sensation, and the image, like a phrase of music, says more by leaving space around it.
