Bold and colorful abstract collage in strong colors of yellow, green and pink with a foundation of black and white with touches of expressive mark making. It has a lot of layers, movement and interest. It was done with acrylic and mixed media (pencil, marker, fabric and paper) on heavy paper. It is signed on the front and back along with the title and date created. It is a heavily textured unusual and raw piece.

I name my pieces by what occurred while painting the piece. What moved me, what struggles had to be overcome, my mood, my train of thought, what the piece reminded me of, sometimes a song that was on and the beat moved me or the lyrics influenced me in some way. Some pieces are named clearly with a bit of humor. I never intentionally start out a painting saying “I’m going to do this, or I’m going to do that”. All of my pieces morph into something that is totally surprising and unexpected.

Materials used:

acrylic, gesso, charcoal, marker, graphite, pencil, fabric, paper
