This is an original oil painting and graphite drawing on a gelatin silver print photograph by American artist Jerry De La Cruz (b 1948, Denver, CO). The image is 10” high by 8” wide. The work is matted in black museum board to a framing size of 16” high by 14” wide. The subject is a bust-high female portrait. It is a young woman with blonde hair and blue eyes. She is facing the viewer, her head slightly back, her eyes slightly closed. She has beautiful features and gazes quietly directly at the viewer. She wears a black sequined top with a horizontal cut showing most of her chest. Over this she wears a padded black jacket. The artist has used graphite extensively and also flesh tone paints along with blues in the background and as eye shadow, all added directly onto the black and white photograph. The palette is flesh tones with blacks, grays and blues. The work is titled “Passive Notice I.” It is in pristine condition and signed front lower right by the artist.
