The soft chime of the café door signaled another arrival, but Isabelle barely looked up from her book. Outside, Paris hummed with life—cars gliding down rain-slicked streets, the distant murmur of a crowd moving through the city, the warm glow of streetlights flickering against the café’s window. The Eiffel Tower is in outside, its golden lights twinkling like a promise against the night sky.
