Paradise for Two (2025) Original Acrylic Painting by Liubov Ro

This painting was created during a forced emigration, where I met someone who became very close to me. We found each other in a similar situation — both of us had left our homes and were forced to start everything from the beginning.

We left Ukraine, where a war is still ongoing, and met here, abroad, in a place that feels like a “paradise” compared to the country that now resembles hell. The war transformed our home — turning it into something unrecognizable, something unbearable.

And yet, this new “paradise,” seemingly created for us, feels artificial — almost like a trap. As if it was carefully constructed, but not truly ours.

Even far away from home, we continue to long for it. And somehow, this man-made paradise has become our new home
