Original artwork description
Acrylics and oils on canvas.
100cm x 100cm 3.7cm.
This painting represents light and hope after darkness and rain - The first indication that hope lies on the horizon, as light returns.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies and the many changes the light can make to the atmosphere of a painting - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
I study the skies and land over the Cheshire plain, close to my home and also the coastal skies over Anglesey, North Wales,
The soft and hazy feel is developed by using the oils almost like watercolour - forming light, translucent glazes.
The raised textures react to the changes in light throughout the day - glistening, adding interest and depth.
