For this painting, I chose a different approach. In recent work, I've isolated the sky shining through branches and leaves by filling it with various colours of chrome paint. Here, though, I let the sky dissolve into the overall composition — a shift inspired by a desire for a calmer atmosphere, giving the piece an almost tapestry-like softness.

I'm committed to pushing the boundaries of my art, avoiding fixed methods and continuing to experiment with how foreground and background treatments affect the composition in new ways. More experiments are certainly still to come.

This piece reflects my ongoing exploration of materials: a 3D aluminium frame (120x120cm), with a digitally printed image mounted on canvas, worked with gel medium, acrylic, oil paint, oil-based sticks, and matte varnish. Finished with a handmade frame in complementary colours, bringing the total dimensions to 124 x 124 x 6 cm.

Materials used:

Print, heavy gel medium, acrylics, oilpaint, oilsticks, chromepaint, satin coating.
