Original artwork description
A scattering of clementines and their dark glossy leaves across a blue-and-white checked cloth, each fruit glowing as though lit from within. This painting is a celebration of light and warmth, of the way sunshine seems to pool inside ripe citrus.
The fruit is arranged loosely, casually, as though just tipped out onto the kitchen cloth, and it is exactly that everyday quality that gives the work its charm. The warm oranges and golds sing against the cool blue grid of the fabric, while the deep green leaves add richness and shadow.
Painted in oils, the glow and translucency of each clementine was built up in careful layers, capturing that irresistible, sunlit warmth. A large, joyful work full of abundance and life. Oil on canvas board, 18 × 24 inches, unframed. Hanging hardware not included.
