Original artwork description
The Oracle continues my copper patina series, where the painting starts not with a brush but a reaction — copper dust worked with vinegar, salt and water, left to crater, flake and bloom into turquoise verdigris no plan could produce. Once that chemistry settles, slow Mischtechnik glazing begins: I read the random topology the way you'd find a face in a water stain, drawing out forms from the bark-like relief. I call this "Chasing Pareidolia" — imagery drawn from perceptual triggers.
Set into that field of totems is a single face, lit gold against a black recess, her one dark almond eye holding a pinprick of light. The piece sits where my classical figure artistry meets the alchemy of the patina process.
