Open Skies
A handmade original collagraph and linocut print by artist Lisa Benson.
Where the shapes of the land meet the shapes of the sky. Textures from the collagraph give the body while linocut marks out the shapes holding the landscape and the sky together. Farmland, hills and trees echo the expanse of the rolling countryside which almost becomes one with the expanse of open sky.
Limited variable edition of 10 prints.
Actual print size approx 28.5 x 21cm
Paper size approx 38 x 28.5cm
Open Skies is a combination print of two different types of print. A collagraph print is printed on the first pass through the press and then a linocut print is printed on top.
The collagraph plate is made by creating various textures on a cardboard plate, in this case that includes sheep's wool from the fences around the fields. The finished plate is then varnished and then inked intaglio and printed onto damp paper. The lino layer is one piece of lino that has been carved, inked and printed.
The inks used for this print are Akua intaglio inks for the collagraph layer and Caligo Safewash ink for the linocut layer.
The paper is Somerset Satin 250gsm printmaking paper.
Although all care is taken to represent the prints as well as possible in the photographs, colours may appear slightly differently on screen to the actual print.
Delivery
The print is wrapped in acid free tissue paper before going into a sturdy postal tube to be posted out to you.
Somerset Satin 250gsm printmaking paper, Akua intaglio inks, Caligo Safewash inks.
