Original artwork description
One Day in Grand Turk is a continuation of a series of paintings inspired by his family's annual winter cruises to the warm and sunny Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. They typically sail out of Florida to 3 or 4 ports of call on a week-long journey to various destinations. They have stopped in St. Thomas, St. Marteen, Aruba, Belize, Honduras, Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Curaçao to name a few.
They have always been fortunate enough to have a cabin with a balcony. He really loves looking into the water along the way and especially studying the colors as they sail along.
This past cruise, as they docked in Turks and Caicos, he was particularly struck by the contrast of the deep ocean blue in the distance and the aqua green/blue shallow water near the port. He loves the perspective from the top decks of our ships overlooking the land and to the horizon. He loves the contrast in colors and textures of the clouds, sea, land, and bay together.
