Once we were Warriors (2015) Original Acrylic Painting by Mark Armstrong

60 x 60 x 2cm (unframed) / 60 x 60cm (actual image size)

£500

“Once we were Warriors looks back at the moment when everyday people felt mythic—fighters, defenders, heroes in their own small worlds. The semi-abstract figures are armoured more by posture than by costume, their lines blurring into each other as memories overlap. Earthy, battle-worn colours are shot through with flashes of brightness, suggesting pride, scars and the afterglow of action. It’s a painting about how we carry our past battles into the present, whether those battles were on a field, a factory floor or in our heads.
