The complete title for this artwork is, "Once a Soldier... ALWAYS a Soldier!" This acrylic painting is created on a large 28x22 stretched canvas. My original idea was to just do a nice simple painting of a farm tractor. My mind started to wander to images of my Dad and how he loved his farm when he finally retired from the military. I then saw a patriotic flyover on TV at a college football game the other day and it made me miss my Dad so badly that I had to let this artwork morph into this patriotic piece. My Dad was a member of the Green Beret Special Forces. He was a decorated Vietnam War Veteran who eventually lost his life to Agent Orange. The military life is a hard and rough life. Even the families of a soldier must sacrifice a lot to support Him and our country. Military families are also heroes for our country! Living at the poverty level and moving every 3 years take a real toll on spouses and children as well. Been there done that! But it is also a wonderful life to be the child of an American Hero. One of my favorite GOOD memories of living on military bases all over the United States was when me and my brothers and sister and ALL the kids and parents around would be playing at a playground in the evening... at dusk they would play the sound of a bugle playing "TAPS" or "To the Color." Everyone on the base would pause and face where they knew the American flag was being lowered with their hands over their hearts or saluting. This is ingrained in me still. Once an Army Brat... Always an Army Brat! This painting is a tribute to Him and ALL the American Heroes who have served our country.
This artwork is sold UNFRAMED but I have included a pic of it with a cherry frame I have in the studio for your consideration should you want to have it framed at your local frame shop. It is also painted on the sides if you want to hang it as is unframed.
