The sea has always been one of my greatest sources of inspiration. I am fascinated by its movement, power, and constantly changing light.
In On the Crest of a Wave, I wanted to capture the fleeting moment when a wave rises and curls, carrying a feeling of movement and energy. The expressive watercolor washes and layered shades of blue create a dynamic surface while preserving the lightness and transparency characteristic of watercolor.
This original watercolor painting is part of my “States of Water” collection, an ongoing exploration of water as a constantly changing element and a reflection of different emotional states. Each work in the collection captures a different moment, movement, or atmosphere of water through light, colour, and expressive watercolor technique.
