Sculpture on hand-worked Lecce stone, designed and created by the artist Andrea Serra. The sculpture “Oltre le maree” expresses a deep bond between man and sea, capturing the essence of this complex relationship. Tides symbolize the cycles of life, with their fluctuations reflecting human emotions. In this dialogue between man and water, both the beauty and the fear that the sea can evoke are highlighted. The sculpture thus becomes a tribute to that mysterious world, an invitation to explore and embrace the wonder and uncertainty it brings with it.
The working of this work is entirely carried out by hand on this stone that is found only in very few areas of southern Italy, namely in the lower Salento in the province of Lecce. This particular stone of marine origin, rich in plant and animal fossils dating back several million years, makes it suitable for the processing of details.
