Original artwork description:

An old, gnarled olive tree with the foreground sprinkled with the spiky, structural acanthus plants that were growing in the olive groves in Corfu. I've recently returned from a trip to that lovely Greek island, and anyone that knows it will be aware that it is covered in olive trees! Apparently the planting was started by the Venetians in the 18th century to provide their own population with olive oil and they are a slightly different variety to the olive trees on mainland Greece, going by the name of Lianolia and with a more upright habit.
This is a mixed media painting using a combination of oil pastel, watercolour, ink and gouache. There are quite a lot of textures in it, which is how I interpret the landscape there. It has been painted on a heavy duty handmade Khadi paper which is robust enough to allow the many processes and layers of this type of painting. There is scraping out, layering, scratching and washing, so it needs to be!
My paintings have been purchased by buyers all around the world, including Australia, USA and France.

Materials used:

watercolours, oil pastel, ink, gouache on Indian Khadi paper 625gsm
