Old Sailor’s Stories is a unique early artwork by Alexander Levich, inspired by the sea as a space of memory, solitude, and imagined narrative. Created in 2007, the painting reflects the artist’s interest in storytelling not as a fixed plot, but as a sequence of emotional impressions.

The composition consists of twelve individual oil paintings assembled into a single work through a custom-painted frame. Each panel functions as a separate visual episode, while the overall structure suggests continuity and rhythm, much like fragments of remembered tales.

Warm layers of semi-transparent oil paint create depth, atmosphere, and subtle spatial effects. Fine contrasting lines animate the surface, enhancing movement and visual cohesion. This work stands as a strong example of Levich’s early imaginative period.
