"Old Pier at Port de la Grève (La Tremblade)" is my attempt to preserve on canvas the quiet spirit of France's Atlantic coast, where time seems to slow its pace. I was drawn to the old wooden buildings, weathered by salty winds and countless seasons, and to the crumbling house that still seems to breathe with memories of the past. At low tide, the muddy shore emerges, covered with green seaweed, while the aging pier becomes a fragile link between land and water. I sought to capture not only the textures of the timber and terracotta rooftops but also the atmosphere of tranquility, gentle melancholy, and timeless beauty. The soft, diffused light enhances the natural colors of the landscape, creating a profound sense of silence. To me, this place is a symbol of the people whose lives were inseparably connected to the sea and the oyster farms. Every brushstroke is meant to tell a story of resilience, the passage of time, and the beauty found in simplicity. I wanted the viewer to sense the scent of salt, the freshness of the sea breeze, and the quiet stillness of the receding tide. This painting is an invitation to pause, look closely, and experience the harmony between nature and human endeavor.
