Original artwork description:

This painting was inspired by an ancient fresco in one of the recently restored churches in Vilnius and my trip to Rome. In 2024, the painting participated in an international exhibition "Who we are: art as a mirror of identity" in Sapporo, Japan. Here is how the curator of the exhibition Vanessa Viti (Italy) commented on the painting: "Old Fresco" is a work that explores the relationship between historical memory and dreamlike perception. The structures, although recognizable, appear blurred, immersed in a suspended atmosphere, as if they were evoked by a distant dream. The lines, usually so rigid in ancient architecture, dissolve into abstract color patches that not only obscure but also amplify the sense of fragility and transience. The use of soft, blended color creates a sort of "veil" over the scene, as if suggesting that history has become an indecipherable memory, an ancient past lived more in the imagination than in reality. "Old Fresco" does not merely represent the past; it investigates its perception and its continuous mutability in collective memory, revealing a dialogue between the solidity of stone and the fluidity of time."

You will receive a professionally packaged and ready-to-hang work of art. Unframed. The canvas is stretched on a wooden stretcher. The edges of the painting are painted. A certificate of authenticity is provided.

This artwork is one-of-a-kind authentic, original artwork. All copyright and reproduction rights are reserved by the artist.
