portrait of a Korean girl.
Retaken now, June 2025
The portrait has become less about likeness and more about tension — between presence and erasure, clarity and distortion. I’m interested in that space where the image breaks down, but still looks back at you.
This piece is not about destruction, but about interruption — of the gaze, of expectations, of identity itself. The expressive marks, the intrusions of raw color, are gestures of resistance against polish and perfection.
It’s a study, in a sense. Not of anatomy, but of pressure — of how much the face can hold before it turns into something else.
What is the meaning of L'une ?
It is a double meaning word. I found it appropriate for this series; in French it means "the one" (she), and "Lune" - moon.
It's a moody portraits series, where I want to express the fragility and beauty of the woman features, by trying to capture a moment, an impression. They seem reflexive, or day dreaming, or maybe slipping into a melancholic, undefined mood.
- the exact size is 115 x 93 cm / 45.3 x 36.6 inches.
- I applied to it more isolating layers of gloss final varnish.
- it has about 6 cm (2.5 inches) extra white margin on the edges, in order to be stretched on wooden frame later on.
- the colours may look different on other devices/ screens
- custom charges vary in each country outside Europe and are not included in the price of the artwork
===============
It will be shipped rolled, in a hard tube. I recommend taking the artwork to a professional framer, in order to have it re-stretched.
