Seems every now and again I do a tree painting. This one goes back a ways to a time I was doing some illustration work. It’s a bit of fantasy fun. The airbrush overtones on the sunny background give strong velvety colour on this paper.
The paper I use is a traditional mulberry paper handmade in Thailand. The paper is a thick parchment paper, strong yet pliable. I have the paper made to this size to get the deckled edges which adds to the overall textural effect. This piece is done on a specially textured paper … you can see the ridges throughout.
The close up picture is of higher resolution to be able to get a better feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting.
