This work was exhibited at my solo show “Window with a View” in Turkey in 2025.
This work continues my ongoing exploration of the window as a metaphorical threshold between the inner and outer worlds. In my series of window paintings, I treat the act of looking as a form of movement: whatever appears beyond the glass inevitably reflects the landscape within.
Here, the motif of the window is joined by the image of a ship — a symbol of journey, freedom, transition, and memory. It is not merely an object placed on a windowsill; it comes alive in dialogue with the sea outside, extending my series where ships embody imagination and inner travel.
The sea and the birds evoke motion and open space, while the window maintains the delicate boundary between presence and longing. The work speaks of how distant horizons begin to grow within us, how the impulse to explore the world can emerge from a quiet, intimate moment — a gaze through the window.
This painting captures the meeting point of reality and imagination, where a static object becomes a vessel into another realm, and the window becomes the place where the journey begins.
