Original artwork description
This piece is a hybrid of painting and relief sculpture, formed from offcuts of wood which have been arranged and painted. The work is created intuitively through a process of layering, reconfiguration, and re-painting until a kind of resolution is achieved. I am interested in the way that the eye moves around a composition and the visual rhythms that emerge; for me each piece is like a map to be explored.
