NOEMA LUCIS

A quiet, shifting gradientโ€”halfway between dusk and dissolution. In โ€œNoema Lucisโ€, the sky is reduced to its purest architecture: layered atmospheres, faint tonal shifts, a tension between weight and weightlessness. There is no horizon. There is no ground. Only air becoming form.

The composition is intentionally minimal. A dense cluster of vapor draws the eye to the lower left, where texture thickens, only to dissipate upward into an almost featureless wash. The color palette is restricted to pale blues, greys, and faint goldsโ€”tones that suggest light not as illumination, but as memory.

I worked to preserve a sense of suspension: not motion, not stillnessโ€”something in between. The image is not designed to be resolved, but to hover. It belongs to the series The Everchanging Canopy, which documents not weather, but states of perception shaped by sky.

โ€œNoema Lucisโ€ is not about a specific place or time. It is a trace. A visual remainder of something half-formedโ€”seen not with the eyes, but with whatever senses operate when language fails.
