Artwork description
Nocturne is a contemporary photomontage that explores the relationship between the architecture of New York City and the resilience of the natural world. Combining layers of Manhattan skyscrapers with cacti, atmospheric textures and celestial forms, the work imagines a future landscape where nature and the built environment exist in a state of tension and transformation.
Inspired by the environmental challenges facing modern cities, the image contrasts the geometric forms of New York's iconic skyline with the organic silhouettes of desert cacti. The negative tonal palette creates a dreamlike, nocturnal atmosphere, transforming familiar architecture into something fragile and impermanent. Through this juxtaposition of urban development and drought-resistant plant life, Nocturne reflects on climate change, adaptation and the uncertain future of cities in a warming world. Produced as a giclée print on archival paper, the work invites viewers to consider both the vulnerability and endurance of the landscapes we create.
