Every day we are exposed to very profound and very trivial images often placed next to each other; sometimes an image can be deeply affecting and fascinating, then we scroll past it and everything is fine again.
J R Root is a visual artist originally from rural South Leicestershire, now based in Sherwood, Nottingham. His work explores the relationship between vibrant colour and emotion, aiming to bring both fervency and honesty to his subjects. His is interested in how we consume and engage with imagery in the digital age; how fleeting visual interactions shape our perceptions and emotional landscapes. His paintings seek to reflect this dynamic, balancing the immediacy of contemporary visual culture with the depth and presence of portraiture.
