Original artwork description:

The original artwork is with The London Art Exchange and was shown at my solo show Gilded Wilderness in March, in Soho Square.

The artwork was shown at the Women's University Club in Mayfair, on July 5th, 2024, for the celebration of the King of Ashanti's Silver Jubilee.

The private function was held by the King's nephew, Yaw Mark Nkansah-Amoyaw with speeches about the King's collectables from Angus Patterson -Chief Curator of Metal Works at The V&A Museum. The collectibles are held at Windsor, the V&A and The Wallace Collection.

The artwork was also shown at The Other Art Fair London Mar 2023 - Saatchi Art and also my solo show IN FLIGHT at The Hyde Gallery, Sept 2023.

I wanted the piece to be of a heavenly setting, where the viewer is taken to a calm and tranquil state, to create not just a painting but a mood and scene. The painting complements Nirvana 2 and 3.

Nirvana - a state of freedom from sorrow & happiness but also an ideal or idyllic place.

I like to work on a large scale, to give me freedom of space and composition. Creating flowing fish and bold lily pads, contrasting with the subtle wash of green water.

I poured washes of water-mixable oil over the canvas, then I moved the oil in a way to simulate the flow and movement of natural water. My passion for painting koi comes from living near beautiful lakes with carp ponds nearby. Koi are a symbol of good luck and spiritual abundance. I painted three koi on the canvas.

The colour palette that I use for my artwork is influenced by current colour trends in interiors and also inspired by nature.

I created 3 separate paintings, Nirvana 1, 2 and 3, with the option that the three would be kept together, or to be sold as separate pieces of art.
