In this piece, I aimed to capture the cool, calming white light of the moon, off the coast of Conwy, North Wales as night fell.
This peaceful pallet of deep cerulean, turquoise and inky blues, is a favourite of mine, for its calming nature. Shades of Turquoise lie beneath the many layers and this hue creeps through and shine, in the changing light.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies and sea - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
I study the skies over the Cheshire hills, close to my home and also the coastal skies over North Wales,
The sky's layers and movement in the foreground, are developed by forming texture through layering and blending the oil paint, building depth and highlights.
