In 'Neither here nor there' we find ourselves in the company of a walking metaphor. She is caught in a daydream perhaps: allowing her mind to wonder away to greener pastures.
The interior of the room describes upheaval. The awkward lines and forms suggest a chaos and claustrophobia. This is happily contradicted by the scene through the door, where we may wish to join her.
