"This piece was created on a hand-stretched canvas. I use layers of acrylic paint to achieve a rhythm and balance that is pleasing to the eye. I chose to use a neutral, nautical inspired palette. The colors that border on one another are carefully chosen and layered in order to create a slight tension with overall harmony. The coordinates for the Statue of Liberty are photo-transferred onto the surface. I finish the final piece with layers of matte medium.
Typically my work is photography based, so painting is a freeing experience and an exercise in creating an immersive color experience. This particular piece was inspired by the design of nautical flags.
This large painting is the perfect way to bring luxury into any home or lake house, and can be beautifully displayed vertically or horizontally in any room or above a sofa."
