Whispers Through Light – Silhouette Sonata No.4 was born from the wistful imagery of Emily Dickinson’s poetry — especially her lines about shadows moving across sunlit parlours. I envisioned what forgotten pages of music might look like bathed in winter’s pale afternoon light, soft branches brushing against a timeworn score.
This piece was created using genuine antique sheet music sourced from 1900s European collections. On this historic canvas, I layered mixed media silhouettes of bare, whispering branches, as if a garden’s ghost had wandered into a music room. Each stroke was placed with care to honour both the age-softened paper and the story it carried.
