I built this painting upward — literally. Starting from a dense accumulation of ink at the base, I let the material climb: fluid, uncontrolled, and then caught by the drying air. What emerged were five upward plumes, each a burst of energy dispersing into pale indigo veins and scattered dark droplets. I was thinking about thresholds: the moment a force exhausts itself and becomes form.
The process begins with a heavily textured gesso ground, then layers of fluid ink — diluted differently across the surface — some areas pooling into near-black granular clusters, others thinning to a translucent grey-blue wash. The contrast between matte depth and subtle sheen is built through density, not glaze. I don't control the edges; I set the conditions and let the ink decide.
Stretched on a solid wooden frame with carefully finished 4 cm (1.5") deep edges — no frame needed. The work arrives ready to hang, signed on the back, with a certificate of authenticity. Packed with maximum protection for safe international shipping.
