Original artwork description
"This painting marks the beginning of my ‘Arboreal Alphabet’ series—a collection of works exploring the natural language written into the organic forms of the forest. My inspiration comes from observing tree stems and branches as they twist, cross, and bight together, often forming unmistakable alphabetic glyphs and ligatures. A found 'A-shape' or a tangled 'J-curve' is first captured in sketches and then deconstructed and re-composed through my personal, abstract landscape language.
Beyond the form, this series is a deep study of the shifting personality of tree bark itself, which transforms radically under different weather conditions. I observe how bark changes when drenched in sudden rain, covered in melting white snow, or bathed in brilliant, dry sunshine. The palette knife and expressive, heavy impasto technique allow me to build physical layers of paint that mimic this rugged, dynamic skin, pulsing with life.
Within this structure, a world within a world is exposed. The negative space is not empty, but a window into the hidden micro-habitats that exist in every bark fissure. A complex terrain of vibrant reds, soft pinks, sun-baked ochres, and cool teals suggests a thriving ecosystem for insects, amphibians, and tiny microorganisms, proving that life exists in every corner of this living text. Presented as the first specimen in my intended complete alphabet, this artwork bridges the gap between language and the wilderness. It is an exploration of the unseen vitality found in the smallest, most overlooked, yet universally legible, fragments of nature."
