This work depicts a series of roof tops in Tel Aviv. I used to live here and have always been taken with these little parcels of space that live between city and sky, places where at night one can sit under stars. They are oddly private spots, accessed by metal doors and shared with baking hot metal water containers. Here the tar melts, plants wither under the glare. And yet in the yards between buildings are patches of dark shadow, of intense shade, relics of Eden, scented by orange blossom and wild mint. The work radiates heat and has an intense realism. It is a 0.4 inch deep canvas and can therefore hang without the need for framing if wished. The work is ideal for a wedding or house warming gift, or as a unique souvenir of this amazing city.
