Mr. Paja in New York • is a surreal and whimsical portrayal of a tiger-person elegantly dressed in a patterned suit, calmly sipping a martini in an eccentric interior filled with symbolic details. Behind him, three girls dance in a circle, playing *Ringe ringe raja*, a traditional children’s game from former Yugoslavia. In the lyrics of this game, “Čika Paja” is mentioned as the one who brings a golden egg, and here, he has brought it all the way to New York.

Through this playful and layered narrative, the painting bridges past and present, East and West, memory and imagination. The cityscape seen through the round window evokes the fast-paced rhythm of New York, in contrast to the strange, ornate stillness of the interior.
